2.       All parts of a question should be answered consecutively. Each answer should start from a fresh page.
3.       Assumptions made if any, should be stated clearly at the beginning of your answer.

Q.1.        Explain what the term accessibility means, and why it is important for providers of information (e.g. government departments) to address the issues.
Assume that you are playing an UI designer role to develop an accessible application for Indian post office website, describe the list of elements you would consider to achieve accessibility and it should prevent problems before they are caught by testing                [7]

Q.2.        Your task is to design an interface for waiters working at XYZ CafĂ©. The waiters should be able to very quickly take up orders from customers and it should be an engaging mobile/tablet based app. The system should be almost as fast as just writing the orders down, and the main point of it is that it goes into the kitchen and the payment system directly, avoiding extra steps and fuss. It should also engage waiters throughout the day.
Develop a prototype to show different screen layouts and justify your design thoughts. [7]

Q.3.        Your task is to design UI for a community website targeted for parents. This would help parent to connect with every other parents and learn on parenting. The site should also provide an option to organize/host events related to healthcare, education, insurance and financial planning. The site should be highly engaged.
What are the design patterns you would consider to design such web applications and explain your design thoughts on overall design?             [7]

Q.4.        Suppose if you are working on an airline data analysis project where you are involved in designing user experience of an application which is used to analyze various dataset and
               provide following insightful information:                                                                           [8]
a.       Find list of airports operating in the country
b.      Find the list of airlines having zero stops
c.       List of airlines operating with code share
d.      Which country (or) territory has the highest number of airports?
e.       Find the list of active airlines in the United States
List and briefly describe three different types of QUANTITATIVE evaluation data that you could collect to test the interface.
List and briefly describe three different types of QUALITATIVE evaluation data that you could collect to test the interface.
Outline the structure of a suitable test plan for evaluating this interface.
Your answer should consider the test environment, the protocols for data collection, kinds of data you will collect and how the data will be useful to the design team.
Q.5 (a)      Explain different options which are available to evaluate usability during active use of your application.                                                                                                     [3]
Q.5 (b)  What knowledge is needed to build an adaptive help system? Explain with an appropriate example                                                                                                [3]

Q.6. Describe the differences between high fidelity prototyping and low fidelity prototyping and give an example for each, illustrating how you would use it                  [5]

Q.7. Most modern GUIs are based on the Desktop Metaphor seen with operating systems such as Windows and Mac OS.

(a)             What is meant by Desktop Metaphor in the context of User Interfaces?
(b)             Briefly discuss how the Desktop Metaphor could be improved in the future.        [5]
