Story of the Day #21 | Of The Day

Be a Warrior of your Dream

One day a son👦 came to his father👱 for an advice. “Dad, I can’t do this anymore” – he said, “those lessons only exhaust me, and the result doesn’t change🗞️. It must be not destined for me to play football⚽️ and my dream💭 will never come true.😇”

The father looked at his son with loving eyes😍 and said “You know son, every person in life💚 has a dream, a goal of his life. They are the ones that make us do what we are doing, because it’s what we should do. We have to fight⚔️ for what we believe in, what we feel. In other case, you will simply brake. Once – and for all. As thought you were never there. The easiest way is to quit everything and not go until the end, because the path is difficult and we are not used to inconveniences. We want everything to be easy and at once. But the wishes are fleeting! This is how our dream dies, and the goal becomes unreachable. Gradually, life becomes a routine without depth and meaning.

Then one day, we try to forget and start everything from the beginning, we wait for a new day to make our life different. But new obstacles come in our way, and we stop again. We become full of despair and anger😠 for our own helplessness. But you only need to remember one thing: never give up, fight, battle. It doesn’t matter that you have lost one battle and even dozens of battles. Life goes on! Your biggest enemies are hiding in you – laziness, fear, doubt, indecision. Be a warrior of your dream, a knight of your goal and a soldier of your wishes.

Story of the Day #20 | Of The Day

As we think so we become

In a village there lived a person Rama👦 who was suffering from indigestion. He took several medicines💊 to treat this ailment, but being chronic he couldn’t get cured. During one festive occasion a saint had come to Rama’s village to give a discourse. He was a highly learned man. Rama met the saint after his discourse and told him about his ailment. The saint gave him a simple cure; he asked him to chew some pieces of rock salt daily. On doing so for some time, Rama’s condition improved.

Rama was a generous man and used to feed🍚 the poor and little children sweets🍠 during the festivals.  On one such occasion he went to the market to buy some sweets as was his usual practice. When he began tasting the sweets to be purchased; he found them bitter. He thought perhaps the quality of sweet was not good at that particular shop. He went to many other sweet shops to check. Everywhere he found the sweets to be bitter. This was on account of his habit of sucking the salt daily. One shopkeeper who know his habit of eating the rock salt suggested to him to wash his mouth before eating the sweet. Rama listened to the shopkeeper’s suggestion and after doing so he tasted the sweet and the sweetmeat was sweet indeed.

Similarly while succumbing to our bad habits, we do not gain the sweet and sanctifying fragrance from the sacred company of the divine personalities that we come across. We can get benefit from the good company only after cleansing our minds. Thoughts are very powerful. As we think so we become and attract those kind of things to us. So let us think positive and good. Let us eliminate negativity and attract goodness, happiness and peace of mind for ourselves.

Story of the Day #19 | Of The Day

Pencil Story🖉

A boy👦 was watching his grandmother👵 write a letter📄. At one point he asked: ‘Are you writing a story about what we’ve done? Is it a story about me?’

His grandmother stopped writing her letter and said to her grandson: ‘I am writing about you actually… but more important than the words is the pencil✏ I’m using. I hope you will be like this pencil when you grow up.’

Intrigued, the boy looked at the pencil. It didn’t seem very special. ‘But it’s just like any other pencil I’ve ever seen!’

‘That depends on how you look👀 at things. It has five⑤ qualities which, if you manage to hang on them, will make you a person who is always at peace with the world.’

First quality: You are capable of great things, but you must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand God and he always guides us according to his will.

Second quality: Now and then, I have to stop writing and use a sharpener. That makes the pencil suffer a little but afterwards he’s much sharper. So you too must learn to bear certain pains and sorrows because they will make you a better person.

Third quality: The pencil always allows us to use an eraser to rub out any mistakes. This means that correcting something we did is not necessarily a bad thing; it helps to keep us on the road to justice.

Fourth quality: What really matters in a pencil is not its wooden exterior but the graphite inside. So always pay attention to what is happening inside you.

Fifth quality: It always leaves a mark. In just the same way, you should know that everything you do in life will leave a mark so try to be conscious of that in your every action.

Story of the Day #18 | Of The Day

Technology is NOT Life💚

I had spent an hour🕐 in the bank🏦 with my dad👴, as he had to transfer some money💰. I couldn't resist myself & asked: ''Dad, why don't we activate your internet banking?''

''Why would I do that?'' He asked...

''Well, then you won’t have to spend an hour here for things like transfer. You can even do your shopping🛒 online. Everything will be so easy!'' I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net Banking.

He asked ''If I do that, I won’t have to step out of the house🏡?

''Yes, yes''! I said. I told him how even grocery can be delivered at door now and how amazon delivers everything! His answer left me tongue-tied😑.

He said ''Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends👬👬, I have chatted🗣 a while with the staff who know me very well by now. You know I’m alone. this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time🕰, it is the physical touch that I crave. Two years back I got sick, The store owner from whom I buy fruits, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried😢. When your Mom fell down👵 few days back while on her morning walk. Our local grocer saw her and called me and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live.

Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online? Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer? I like to know the person that I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller'. It creates bonds. Relationships. Does Amazon deliver all this as well?'''

Story of the Day #17 | Of The Day

Heart💙 Of Gratitude

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said :  ' I am blind, please help.'  There were only a few coins💰 in the hat🎩.
A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.
Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?
The man said, " I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way."
I wrote : ' Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it.'

Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?
Be thankful for what you have.
Be creative. Be innovative.
Think differently and positively.
Enjoy your day with a heart of gratitude.

Story of the Day #16 | Of The Day

People vs Mistakes

One day a school teacher wrote on the board the following.
9 x 1 = 7
9 x 2 = 18
9 x 3 = 27
9 x 4 = 36
9 x 5 = 45
9 x 6 = 54
9 x 7 = 63
9 x 8 = 72
9 x 9 = 81
9 x 10 = 90
When he was done, he looked to the students and they were all laughing at him, because of the first equation which was wrong, and then the teacher said the following. I wrote that first one wrong on purpose, because I wanted you to learn something important. This was for you to know how the world out there will treat you.
You can see that I wrote right 9 times, but none of you congratulated me for it; You all laughed and criticized me because of one wrong thing I did. So this is the lesson... The world will never appreciate the good you do a million times, but will criticize the one wrong thing you do.. But don't get discouraged. Always rise above all the Laughter and Criticism. Stay Strong!

Speech of the Day #1 | Of The Day

M.S.Dhoni Motivational Speech to Youth

You have to be honest in life. You have to be honest to yourself. You have to be practical. You have to take risk in life but at the same time you have to calculate. You can’t just say ok. I took risky option at a same point time you have to be ready with, ready for the kind of talent that’s really needed to achieve what you want to achieve but at the same time you know you have to take risk in life. So for me being honest in life is very important, hard work that you have to put in the irrespective of whatever your profession is. The hard work, the honesty, respecting the elders which I feel is the key. You know if you don’t respect elders or parents or meet anyone, you know it becomes very difficult to be successful in life.
Being humble, you know, try to be when you enter, let’s say any big building you know right from the first man you meet to may be the managing director you have to be the same to each and every one. So that’s what life and all about go through the difficult periods it out but if you can do it with a smile. You know that you will become part of may be the five percent persons you know who can actually do it because at times we crib about life about the tough period but what is important is to go through the tough period that actually make you a better human being.

Story of the Day #15 | Of The Day

The Master and The Tiger

A teacher and his student were walking from one village to another, when they suddenly heard a roar behind them. Turning their gaze in the direction of the roar, they saw a big tiger following them. The first thing the student wanted to do was to run away, but since he has been studying and practicing self-discipline, he was able to halt himself from running, and wait to see what his teacher would do.

“What shall we do Master?” Asked the student.

The teacher looked at the student and answered in a calm voice: “There are several options. We can fill our minds with paralyzing fear so that we cannot move, and let the tiger do with us whatever pleases it. We can faint. We can run away, but then it will run after us. We can fight with it, but physically it is stronger than us.”

“We can pray to god to save us. We can choose to influence the tiger with the power of our mind, if our concentration is strong enough. We can send it love. We can also concentrate and meditate on our inner power, and on the fact that we are one with the entire universe, including the tiger, and in this way influence its soul.”

“Which option do you choose?”

“You are the Master. You tell me what to do. We don’t have much time.” The student responded.

The master turned his gaze fearlessly towards the tiger, emptied his mind from all thoughts, and entered a deep state of meditation. In his consciousness, he embraced everything in the universe, including the tiger. In this state the consciousness of the teacher became one with consciousness of the tiger. Meanwhile the student started to shiver with fear, as the tiger was already quite close, ready to make a leap at them. He was amazed at how his teacher could stay so calm and detached in the face of danger. Meanwhile the teacher continued to meditate without fear. After a little while, the tiger gradually lowered its head and tail and went away.

The student asked his teacher in astonishment, “What did you do?”

“Nothing. I just cleared all thoughts from my mind and united myself in spirit with the tiger. We became united in peace on the spiritual level. The tiger sensed the inner calmness, peace, and unity and felt no threat or need to express violence, and so walked away.”

“When the mind is silent and calm, its peace is automatically transmitted to everything and everyone around, influencing them deeply”, concluded the teacher.

One must have a calm mind and concentrated thoughts, then things will just get sorted out and we can achieve success.

Story of the Day #14 | Of The Day

Out of Box📦

Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town🌆, a merchant had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to the moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the merchant’s beautiful daughter👧 so he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgot the merchant’s debt if he could marry the daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal.
The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble into an empty bag. The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag.If she picked the black pebble, she would become the moneylender’s wife and her father’s debt would be forgiven. If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father’s debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail.

They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the merchant’s garden. As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick her pebble from the bag.

What would you have done if you were the girl? If you had to advise her, what would you have told her? Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:

1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.
2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and expose the moneylender as a cheat.
3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

The above story is used with the hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral and logical thinking.

The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

“Oh, how clumsy of me,” she said. “But never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked.” Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the white one. And since the moneylender dared not admit his dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an advantageous one.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Most complex problems do have a solution, sometimes we have to think about them in a different way.

Thinking "Out of Box" Never be hopeless !

Story of the Day #13 | Of The Day

The Proud Rose🌹

One beautiful spring day🌅, a red rose🌷 bloomed in a forest. Many kinds of trees 🎋and plants grew there. As the rose looked around, a pine🍍 tree nearby said, “What a beautiful flower. I wish I was that lovely.” Another tree said, “Dear pine, do not be sad, we cannot have everything.”

-The rose turned its head and remarked, “It seems that I am the most beautiful plant in this forest.”
-A sunflower🌻 raised its yellow head and asked, “Why do you say that? In this forest there are many beautiful plants. You are just one of them.”
-The red rose replied, “I see everyone looking at me and admiring me.” Then the rose looked at a cactus🌵 nearby and said, “Look at that ugly plant full of thorns!”
-The pine tree said, “Red rose, what kind of talk is this? Who can say what beauty is? You have thorns too.”

The proud red rose looked angrily at the pine and said, “I thought you had good taste! You do not know what beauty is at all. You cannot compare my thorns to that of the cactus.”

“What a proud flower”, thought the trees.

The rose tried to move its roots away from the cactus, but it could not move. As the days passed, the red rose would look at the cactus and say insulting things, like “you are useless! How sorry I am to be your neighbor”…

The cactus never got upset😩 and he even tried to advise the rose, saying, “God did not create any form of life without a purpose.”

Spring passed, and the weather became very warm. Life❤ became difficult in the forest, as the plants and animals needed water🌊 and no rain fell. The red rose began to wilt. One day the rose saw sparrows stick their beaks into the cactus and then fly away, refreshed. This was puzzling, and the red rose asked the pine tree what the birds were doing. The pine tree explained that the birds got water from the cactus. “Does it not hurt when they make holes?” asked the rose.

“Yes, but the cactus does not like to see any birds suffer,” replied the pine.

The rose opened its eyes👀 in wonder and said, “The cactus has water?”

“Yes you can also drink from it. The sparrow can bring water to you if you ask the cactus for help.”

The red rose felt too ashamed of its past words and behavior to ask for water from the cactus, but then it finally did ask the cactus for help. The cactus kindly agreed and the birds filled their beaks with water and watered the rose’s roots. Thus the rose learnt a lesson and never judged anyone by their appearance again!

Never judge anyone by their appearance.
Appearances are deceptive.
We can know a person only by their actions and not by their looks.

I am because, we are!

The motivation behind name given to Ubuntu Operating System.

An Anthropologist proposed one game to the African🗺 tribal children. He placed a basket of sweets and Candy's near a tree🌳. And made them stand 100 meters away. And announced that whoever reaches first would get all the sweets in the basket. When he said ready steady go...

Do you know what these small children did? They all held each other's hands👬 and ran towards the tree together, divided the sweets among them and ate the sweets and enjoyed it. When the Anthropologist asked them why you did so? They said 'Ubuntu'.
Which meant - 'How can one be happy when all the others are sad?'
Ubuntu in their language means - 'I am because, we are!'

A message for all generations. Let all of us always carry this attitude within us and spread happiness, wherever we go...
Let's have a Ubuntu Life... I am because we are..!!

Story of the Day #11 | Of The Day

Value of Life💙

A man👨 went to a Guru and asked, "What's the value of life?💛". The Guru gave him a stone💎 and said, "Find out the value of this stone, but don't sell it."
The man took the stone to an Orange Seller and asked him what its cost would be. The Orange Seller saw the shiny stone and said, "You can take 12 oranges and give me the stone." The man apologized and said that the guru has asked him not to sell it.
He went ahead and found a vegetable seller. "What could be the value of this stone?" he asked the vegetable seller. The seller saw the shiny stone and said, "Take one sack of potatoes and give me the stone." The man again apologized and said he can't sell it.
Further ahead, he went into a jewelry shop and asked the value of the stone. The jeweler saw the stone under a lens🔎 and said, "I'll give you 50 Lakhs💰 for this stone. “When the man shook his head, the jeweler said, "Alright, alright, take 2 crores, but give me the stone." The man explained that he can't sell the stone.
Further ahead, the man saw a precious stone's shop and asked the seller the value of this stone. When the precious stone's seller saw the big ruby, he lay down a red cloth and put the ruby on it. Then he walked in circles around the ruby and bent down and touched his head in front of the ruby. "From where did you bring this priceless ruby from?" he asked. "Even if I sell all my things and my life, I won't be able to purchase this priceless stone.
Stunned and confused, the man returned to the guru and told him what had happened. "Now tell me what is the value of life, guruji?" Guru said, "The answers you got from the Orange Seller, the Vegetable Seller, the Jeweler & the Precious Stone's Seller explain the value of our life...
You may be a precious stone, even priceless, but people will value you based on their financial status, their level of information, their belief in you, their motive behind entertaining you, their ambition, and their risk taking ability. But don't fear, you will surely find someone who will discern your true value.Respect yourself. You are Unique. No one can Replace you!

Who is Rich

A wealthy woman👩 goes to a saree store and tells the boy at the counter "Bhaiya show some cheap sarees. It is my son's marriage and I have to give to my maid." After sometime, the maid comes to the saree shop and tells the boy at the counter "Bhaiya show some expensive sarees. I want to gift my Mistress on her son's marriage". Poverty is in the mind or in the purse?

Once, a lady with her family👪 was staying in a 3-star hotel for a picnic. She was the mother of a 6 month old baby.

"Can I get 1 cup of milk?🥛" asked the lady to the 3-star hotel manager.
"Yes madam", he replied.
"But it will cost 100 bucks💸". "No problem", said the lady.
While driving back from hotel, the child was hungry again. They stopped at a road side tea stall and took milk from the tea vendor.
"How much?” she asked the tea vendor.
"Madam, we don't charge money for kid's milk", the old man said with a smile.
"Let me know if you need more for the journey". The lady took one more cup and left.

She wondered, "Who’s richer? The hotel manager or the old tea vendor? Sometimes, in the race for more money, we forget that we are all humans. Let's help someone in need, without expecting something in return. It will make us feel better than what money can.

Story of the Day #9 | Of The Day

Blind Horse

An out-of-towner drove his car🚗 into a ditch in a desolated area. Luckily, a local farmer came to help with his big strong horse🐴 named Buddy. He hitched Buddy up to the car and yelled, "Pull, Nellie, pull!" Buddy didn't move.

Then the farmer hollered, "Pull, Buster, pull!" Buddy didn't respond.

Once more the farmer commanded, "Pull, Coco, pull!" Nothing.

Then the farmer nonchalantly said, "Pull, Buddy, pull!" And the horse easily dragged the car out of the ditch.

The motorist was most appreciative and very curious. He asked the farmer why he called his horse by the wrong name three𝟑 times.

The farmer said, "Oh, Buddy is blind, and if he thought he was the only one pulling, he wouldn't even try!"

Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire. Self-confidence is the power!

Story of the Day #8 | Of The Day

Vanity learns a lesson

This story is about Mahatma Gandhi, well known Indian freedom fighter who gave importance to non-violence. Once Gandhi was abroad to ship, on his way to England. A young European who saw him wondered why a half-naked, bald-headed and toothless old man should go to England. He drew funny pictures of Gandhi and wrote nasty things about him. He then walked towards Gandhi and gave Gandhi the pieces of papers saying; “You will find this useful and interesting. Read it and keep it with you.”

Having read each and every piece of paper given by the young European, Gandhi then returned the pieces to the European and said, “I have done just what you asked me to do”. Then he continued, giving the young man his usual sweet smile, “I have kept with me your paper clip, that is the only interesting and useful thing you gave me. Thank you”.

Gandhi’s short and sweet reply went straight to his heart💚 and the young man realized how intelligent, cultured, humble and great Gandhi was. He hung his head down in shame and walked away. He became aware of his stupidity and ego which had made him commit such a blunder. The young European, from then on, learnt to respect each and every individual irrespective of their appearances, caste and creed.

One should learn how to remain calm in all situations, have dignity and self-control. Each human should always respect one and another so that a mutual understanding can be reached. You should never pass any comments about another just by looking at one’s attire or physical appearance just as the English proverb goes “do not judge a book by its cover”

Story of the Day #7 | Of The Day

Laughter😄 is The Best Medicine

Many years ago, Norman Cousins was diagnosed as “terminally ill”. He was given six months to live. His chance for recovery was 1 in 500. He could see the worry, depression and anger in his life💗 contributed to, and perhaps helped cause, his disease.
He wondered, “If illness can be caused by negativity, can wellness be created by positivity?”

He decided to make an experiment of himself. Laughter was one of the most positive activities he knew. He rented all the funny movies he could find – Keaton, Chaplin, Fields, the Marx Brothers. (This was before VCRs, so he had to rent the actual films.) He read funny stories. He asked his friends to call him whenever they said, heard or did something funny.

His pain was so great he could not sleep. Laughing for 10 solid minutes, he found, relieved the pain for several hours so he could sleep.

He fully recovered from his illness and lived another 20 happy, healthy and productive years. (His journey is detailed in his book, Anatomy of an Illness.) He credits visualization, the love of his family and friends, and laughter for his recovery.

Some people think laughter is a waste of time. It is a luxury, they say, a frivolity, something to indulge in only every so often.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Laughter is essential to our equilibrium, to our well-being, to our aliveness. If we’re not well, laughter helps us get well; if we are well, laughter helps us stay that way.

Since Cousins’ ground-breaking subjective work, scientific studies have shown that laughter has a curative effect on the body, the mind and the emotions. So, if you like laughter, consider it sound medical advice to indulge in it as often as you can. If you don’t like laughter, then take your medicine – laugh anyway.

Use whatever makes you laugh – movies, sitcoms, Monty Python, records, books, cartoons, jokes, friends.

Give yourself permission to laugh – long and loud and out loud – whenever anything strikes you as funny. The people around you may think you’re strange but sooner or later they’ll join in even if they don’t know what you’re laughing about. Some diseases may be contagious, but none is as contagious as the cure. . . laughter.
